The entries we received varied widely in subject matter and all demonstrated creative carving. We&#8217;ll be talking to some of these carvers about sharing their patterns in future issues. David Stewart - Ouroboros2-silo\" width=\"355\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Second Place: Ouroboros Releases His Tail<br \/>\n<\/strong>David Steward of Booklyn, N.Y., chip carved <em>Ouroboros Releases His Tail<\/em> with one knife from basswood board and finished it when shellac. The chip carving is 22&#8243; by 11&#8243; by 3\/4&#8243;. Ouroboros is the serpent in Egyptian mythology that swallows his own tail while encircling the world. David\u2019s carving imagines the moment when Ouroboros releases his tail and chaos is unleashed.<\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Chip Carving:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Painted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/woodcarving.zeeframes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/16.-Arturo-Torres-Koi2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10874 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/woodcarving.zeeframes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/16.-Arturo-Torres-Koi2.jpg\" alt=\"16.
